Earth Day Pedal Party

Burbank Eco Council partnered with Burbank Transportation Management Organization and IKEA Burbank to provide the community with some people-powered fun. Activities included a bicycle obstacle course, open ride space, crafts, games, a Fender Blender, and more. Seasoned cyclists and brand new riders alike joined the pedal party.
Pop-up Art Show

Trashionistas walked the red carpet, posed for pictures, and took part in the Magnolia Park Merchants Association Pop-up Art Show. The event was filled with local vendors, artists, food trucks, live music, and dancing. BEC awarded Trashion Show winners with gift certificates and collected over 50lbs of unwanted clothes, offering them to event goers for free wardrobe swaps.

The BEC celebrated Earth Day and the creativity of Burbank students by featuring Trashion Show submissions in an online event video showcase. Winners were announced, with top designers receiving $100 each in the following categories: K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12.

Wondering how to construct an outfit made of trash? Curious which materials are worst for the environment? Need some fashion inspiration? The BEC pulled together local experts to empower students in an online event, helping to prepare them for submitting trashion outfits for the competition.
Earth Week 2021: Rediscovering our Nature

While in-person events were on hold in 2021, the John Burroughs High School (JBHS) Eco Club partnered with Burbank Eco Council to host a whole week of free, online entertainment and educational sessions with involvement from the community and Burbank students K-12.
Kiss the Ground Screening + Q&A Panel

In collaboration with the Burbank Sustainable Commission, Burbank Eco Council presented a free community screening of Kiss the Ground (documentary, narrated by Woody Harrelson) followed by a Q&A Panel on regenerative agriculture.
